“Bringing the English speaking person to the Word of God.” - The PlowShare Mission.

This reference translation provides a stepping-stone between biblical Hebraic-Koine Greek and Modern English. Using Modern English words and grammar, the biblical Greek text is fully translated into a readable, intermediate English form that preserves the distinct concepts and contextual meanings used in the biblical Greek text.

One does not need to know biblical Greek to use this stepping-stone. However, in order to enjoy a fuller understanding of the richness and clarity of God's Word, the student should embrace both biblical Greek and Hebrew. This interlinear Bible, and its companion dictionary, was created to help the student move beyond the limitations of English translation.

The Hilkiah Edition was hand-translated to ensure the preservation of the concepts and contexts expressed in the Greek biblical text. Custom software was used to facilitate the effort. One primary undertaking required by this endeavor was to reconcile biblical English vocabulary with biblical Greek vocabulary. This assured the highest degree of English word consistency with the Greek text itself. The benefit is a more accurate presentation and correlation of biblical thoughts, concepts, and instructions.

In keeping with the witness, instruction, and authority of the New Testament scripture, the Book of John is placed first in this printed text. It immediately identifies the True Author of life, creation and the scriptures. It begins with the signature of God as presented in the book of Genesis.

“Of the modern English dictionaries bearing the Webster name, this one is superior for studying, correlating, and understanding Scripture as it still preserves most of the historical and foundational meanings of the words and concepts used in the Bible.” - J. K. Mickelson.

(Without question, you want the edition that has the CD-ROM. The dictionary software is very benefical and quickly utilized. I also own the primary competitor's dictionary on CD-ROM and it is not as helpful by comparison.)
